Cesc Fabregas could be set to make his final appearance for Chelsea when they entertain Championship side Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup on Saturday.
The Spaniard is out of contract at the end of the season and is very close to a move to Ligue 1 outfit Monaco.
Fabregas who is expected to leave Chelsea this month could make his final appearance for the club in the FA Cup game.
The Spanish midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge due to Maurizio Sarri’s preference for Jorginho. He has made just 6 appearances for the Blues this season.
Regardless, Maurizio Sarri was keen for Fabregas to remain at the club and offer back up in central midfield. However, his demands appear to have been put aside.
Speaking recently about what Fabregas can offer to his side, Sarri said: “In this position we have only two players, Jorginho and Fabregas, so for me it would be really a problem without Cesc.
“I want him to stay, I don’t know the final decision of Cesc and the club of course.
“But for me it’s very important and if Cesc will go I think that we need to buy another player, and it’s not easy because, technically, Cesc is a very important player.
“And I think that in the market it’s very difficult to find a player with his characteristics.”
