Alvaro Morata has told Chelsea that he wants to join Atletico Madrid. The Spain international joined the Blues from Real Madrid in 2017 for a fee of £60million.
However, the player has been struggling to make his mark at Chelsea since the turn of 2018 having started brightly at Stamford Bridge.
The Spain international has just 9 goals in 24 games this season for Chelsea amid a lot of inconsistencies in his performances.
Meanwhile, Chelsea won’t mind letting him go for a decent fee as the club have also been linked with a move for Gonzalo Higuain.
Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in acquiring Morata although they’ve been silent about their interest in him. On Tuesday, a report from Libertad Digital claimed that Morata has made the club aware of his desire to leave Stamford Bridge.
However, the deal can only go through after the Blues have secured a deal for Higuain, with Atletico Madrid also having to let go of either Gelson Martins or Nikola Kalinic to provide space for Morata’s arrival.
