Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has admitted that he underestimated the rivalry that exists between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, pointing out how his players looked destroyed after suffering a 3:1 defeat against their London rivals at Wembley earlier this season in the Premier League.
Tottenham started like a house on fire in the encounter and opened up a 2 goal lead in the first 16 minutes as they subsequently quashed Chelsea’s 18-game unbeaten run with a 3:1 defeat.
Sarri was disappointed with his side’s attitude in the game but admitted that the players were also disappointed after the game. The result is expected to drive the Blues tonight but Tottenham will also not want to let the Blues have one over them.
“I saw my players in the dressing room after the match. They were destroyed,” Sarri said.
“I realised the real situation. I realised that the match against Tottenham is a very important match for the club, the fans and the players.
“So, of course, now, for me, this match is more important. Now I think I know everything, so I think I will be ready and I hope the same for my players.”
